ECC events:

Natwest Cricket Force Day this Saturday the 27th of March at 9am

The aim is to get as many people down at the Club to help with all the jobs that need doing to prepare for the coming season. All are welcome, including the youngsters, and we plan to finish at 1pm, so the footballers amongst you will be able to get away. Of course if you can only stay for an hour or two that is fine as well.

There will be teas and coffees and a bacon buttie to entice you down to the Warren.......and of course a FREE Natwest Cricketforce T-shirt!!!!!!

This is your chance to help out the Club, so p
lease come along and help out to get the Club ready for the season!

Sunday 7th March 2010. Elstow CC @ Huntingdon Races!

A note from secretary Henry Wisson on the event:

Gents,

I'm delighted to advise you of a new fundraiser for the club. With the heady days of trips to Edgbaston now a distant memory, the club day out will be re-invented for 2010 as a pre-season trip to Huntingdon Racecourse.

Will Wisson has secured 50 tickets to the Sunday 7th March meeting. The bus leaves from The Warren at 12.15, returning from the racecourse around 17.15. The cost for the outing is £20 which includes bus fare and entrance fee.

As well as being an important pre-season 'bonding' session, funds raised from the day will go towards the club. Please can you let me know as soon as possible if you'd like to come along on what promises to be a rip-roaring day out.
Because we're limited to 50, tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Bearing in mind the time of year, there's no rush for payment, though we'd like this by the end of January.

Regards,

Henry

Saturday 6th June

ELSTOW CC ON SKY'S 'CRICKET AM'!
CRICKETAM1.JPG

Elstow CC hit national TV by storm after appearing on Sky Sports' cult programme Cricket AM.

With the Elstow Ashes just round the corner, the club were invited to be 'team of the week' in the Douglas Jardine Pavilion on Saturday 6th June in London. Readied with an Elstow Barmy Army songbook, the mighty Pilgrims, 30-odd strong, powered their way through the early morning show, winning the hearts of the Sky crew and guests alike.

Ainsley Harriot and Barry Norman both warmed to the Elstow massive, as did presenters Sarah-Jane Mee and Simon Thomas. Shame none of the bowlers could bowl straight - no change there then!

Keep visiting the photos page for more pics over the coming days, and there will be clips of the programme available soon.

In the meantime, the Sky Sports website has clips of the show, please click below.

Elstow Cricket Clubs Natwest Cricket Force Day ‘09'- A great Success!!

On Sunday 29th March Elstow CC held their first Natwest Cricket Force Day and what a success it was!  With a long day ahead of us and a long list of tasks to achieve we kicked off our day at 9 am. Seventeen club members turned out to lend a hand and ensure that the club facilities were ready for the forth coming season.

Priority tasks included clearing and tidying the score hut and roller shed to go through many years of built up ‘junk' although a few useful treasures were unearthed in the process!  The clearing enabled shelving to be put up in the now empty score hut which will house all the junior equipment, a much needed facility to ensure the upkeep and durability of the equipment for this season and hopefully others to follow.

Another major task was to put the nets us and an enthusiastic group of Elstow members set about this task with vigour!  This year a roof has also been incorporated to limit the number of balls being lost!

Well deserved bacon rolls, tea and coffee were on hand late morning for the hungry workers, before cracking straight back on with the work.

The locks were changed on the changing room doors by our ‘handy man' chairman to provide better security for all players.  By mid afternoon, the ‘to do' list was somewhat shorter and things were winding down and the last few members were ready for a beer down the local.

A massive amount was achieved for a small club in a short time. With only a small number of lose ends to tie up in the weeks before the season start, the day was a great success and thanks to the Natwest Cricket Force Day Elstow Cricket Club are now in a position to face the season head on!
