Elstow left Miserable Now by Mozzer & Co

Another week, another reverse. How long till summer’s here again? Ampthill A the victors this week, with a near perfect performance in despatching Tom Wisson’s beleaguered troops.  Despite Elstow’s bright start, they were 102-1 at one stage, they collapsed to 134 all out.

The early optimism offered by Dan Wisson and Rani Thiarra’s opening partnership evaporated as Ampthill’s go-to bowlers got amongst the rest of the team, pressuring Elstow in to two run outs and drying up the scoring options. It was fun while it lasted though as Wisson (47) looked at his bombastic best hitting a trio of maximums and accumulating the threes as his partner Thiarra showed further glimpses of his huge potential with a well paced 39.

In reply, Ampthill’s batsmen blunted Elstow’s toothless attack sauntering to victory without losing a wicket. Will Sneath was the first to get to the retirement score and it was left to ex-Elstow midweeker, Simon ‘Mozzer’ Morrell to see his team home with three overs to spare.
