Elstow U10 v Aspley Guise
Sunday 24th July 2011
This week’s trip to Aspley Guise was Elstow’s last official fixture of the season (rearranged games against Clifton & L Buzzard are still trying to be set up). Elstow had played four and won two, so this was an important game for the boys to chalk up a win.
Aspley won the toss and decided to bat and Euan and Luke T opened the bowling keeping Aspley’s openers to just two runs in the first four overs. Kaiser followed up with two overs taking two wickets and Aspley’s scorecard was going backwards. All boys had a bowl expect Adam who was our accomplished wicket keeper and fearless behind the stumps overseeing two run outs. The boys fielding, backing up and communication was very impressive and Simon (umpire) had then running between overs in to the fielding positions.
Aspley put on a total of 127 after twenty overs a fairly lean target for our boys.
Elstow batted steadily for the first twelve overs with good running between the wickets and a series of well taken singles from Andrew and Sean. Elstow only conceded three wickets (hit wicket, bowled and only one run out!) and finished with a flourish from Euan with four fours and the top score of the day.
Elstow won comfortably by 80 runs and looked like a proper cricket team throughout the game. They should be very proud of themselves.
