Highs & Lows in Busy Weekend for U-10s

Saturday 9th July 2011

On Saturday, captained by Luke, Elstow fielded first and kept Eversholt to a lean score from the first 16 overs. But with strong good scoring by the final pair the target was set at 191 to win. A good bowling performance with Sam getting his first wicked with a middle stump Yorker and nine boys having bowl. There were a couple of missed run outs that the boys will need to practise this drill.

Although Elstow batted steadily, with everybody contributing runs, the target was always going to be tough. We made 154 with Luke & Lewis the top contributors with 10 & 6 respectively both including a four.

Elstow lost by 36 runs but a good all round team effort

The second game of the weekend saw Elstow captained by Lewis. Put in to bat, the boys set off at a gallop with 29 runs from the first pair. All players made runs and some good running between the wickets actively encouraged by the spectators prevented any run outs. Ben Whittle hit a solid four and Ben Lewis top scored with 28 including four, fours.

Biggleswade were set a target of 170 to win and Elstow got stuck in with Euan & Luke T both taking wickets in the first two overs. Sam added a further wicket to his middle stump Yorker from Saturday.

With only 16 wides conceded in the 20 overs this match and with some exceptional fielding showing how the boys are coming together as a unit Elstow won by 12 runs with a solid all round team effort
